Goodbye 2019...

Here we are again standing at the edge of an old decade, into a new decade, a new year, a new day, a new moment for the old you who wants to be a new you. I am not starting with the common mythical line "New Year, New You" because only the Old You knows the New You. If there is someone you can trust to bring the New You then the last and only person will be the Old You.So, why it is always special to say Good bye to a year and hello to another? Whether you choose to make the New Year's resolution or not, January always feels like a fresh beginning- melting with possibilities, opportunities and more importantly hope.

2010s has been a turbulent decade across the world with protest, populism, absurd politics, frantic commercialism, austerity, mass migration and many good news submerged by overflowing bad news' headlines. Social media has taken over the traditional news from every corner of the globe to another perspective of reporting whether it is with authority, tenacity, rigour and integrity or not. ...

Oh No! No, No, No, Stop!

I am not talking about the world, I am talking about us, you and me...and all the lovely human being...

...the new You in the Old You.

2010s could have been either the best decade for you or a stormy one that you have never imagined in your entire life before. Good or bad, it's all up to yourself to make it sensible,  repose and live mindfully. The end means beginning of another- the end of the year is the beginning of another new year, and this time another new decade.

The Old You knows what you have to declutter, what you have to let go and how you can simplify your life and live meaningfully for the New You. However, the New You can be deceived if the old you, half way through decides to curl up into its comfort zone,  ignore any changes and simply dwell into the mundane day to day life by continuously clutter and mutter with its surroundings.

So, whisper to your Old You and the New You to be the Present You- live in the moment. Focus your sight that  today is a new day of the week, and this moment is another new moment of the day.

Here's a bucket list from Penamoli for the Present You:

  • Live in the moment
  • Eliminate your discontent
  • Reclaim your time
  • Focus on you- your health and well being
  • Grow as individual
  • Pursue your passions
  • Discover your missions
  • Experience real freedom
  • Create more, consume less
  • Rid yourself of excess stuff
  • Discover purpose in your lives
  • Spend time with  your loved ones;
  • Listen
  • Speak when you have to
  • Contribute for others who needs you
  • Contribute within your means and beyond yourself
  • Remember to be kind to yourself and others
Learn to declutter, let go, pause , stop and take a deep breath, then smile and start- start all-over again if you have to with small steps-one at a time but persistently for every ending is a new beginning.

I hope the 2020s offers more hope for the hopefuls- for us- for you, for me and for all; for the world- another abundant years of lives.

Happy 2020.

A poem for my Malaysia

This poem is written in Malay Language, my homeland's national language. It is written in the spirit of the celebration of Malaysia's 62nd Independence Day. It is not meant to condemn or based on any specific ethnicity, or person. It is purely from the heart and mind of mine for the love of my birth country, a moment simply for my homeland. Sejenak untukmu Aku bukan bukan Melayu kerana aku cukup Melayu, cukup Cina, cukup India, dan cukup lain-lain kaum. Aku anak Malaysia. Aku bukan bukan Melayu kerana aku atuh pada rukun. Rukun aku rukun negara. Usah disindir kepercayaanku kerana aku bukan calang-calang orang. Aku anak Malaysia. Aku bukan bukan Melayu. Aku tahu Melayu, aku hormati Melayu, dan aku cintai Melayu kerana aku anak Malaysia. Aku bukan anak India. Bahasa ibuku Tamil,  kampungku pekan Melayu, sekolah rendahku sekolah Cina. Kerjaku merantau dunia. Kini sudah dekad lamanya aku dikota Lon...

The Glorious Roses

If there is a plant I won't miss planting in my garden, it's roses. Though it's not easy ( especially with the presence of its mortal enemies), every season brings a new learning experience, and it's lovely to see the colourful blooms adorning my garden containers. Among them, the baby pink rose always makes me smile with its delicate hue and graceful petals. Why? Because it reminds me of my mum… On the other hand, it adds to my muse. Roses are lovely but have thorns; so is our life sometimes or quite often too prickly. But beyond the pain; the softness of its petals embraces us; the sweetness of its smell and the beauty of its whole. Life, much like a rose, is a delicate interplay of beauty and pain. The thorns symbolize the struggles and hardships that we inevitably encounter, making our journey sometimes, or quite often prickly and challenging. These difficulties, while painful, are an intrinsic part of life, shaping our resilience, fortitude and gratitude. They remi...

A Dream Journal

It was a normal end of school day, I was ready to pick my boys from the Shine Club- the after school club, right after concluding my very own fabulous chores  in the classroom that I work. Everything and everyone seems so busy, I picked my boys and just then I remembered, I left my bag in the classroom that I was covering previously. So, I went to the other class, got my bag and exited through the main office when I saw, the familiar face, the most respected figure in my life, my idol and my world, my everything waiting there for me and my boys with her kind smile, she held my little-one's hand and the four of us started walking home...and this is in real-time until I was wide awake when my nightly brain saw the fair flash of the wintry sunshine through the little opening of my blue velvety curtain. Time was 9 am and never in my life since I became a mother myself, I slept till this late morning. I woke up with a smile, feeling loved once again by the most important person in my li...
